Advice on Drug Interactions
A drug interaction happens when a substance affects the activity of a drug when both are administered together. This action can increase or decrease the activity of the drug. Drug interactions that are of greatest concern are those that reduce the desired effects or increase the adverse effects of the medication. Medications can interact with food, supplements, or other medications.
This service is particularly useful for patients who are prescribed with multiple medications. Our pharmacists will be able to provide advice on how to space certain medications/health supplements apart. To ensure the safe use of medications, talk to our pharmacists before starting on any new medications/supplements.
To ensure that our pharmacists are able to provide appropriate advice, take note (by writing down) or bring all the medications and supplements that you/your family member is currently taking.
