Description	Glucosamine is a natural precursor of substances that provide the foundation of many components of our joints including cartilage, tendons, ligaments, and the fluid between joints. It is produced by the body to build and repair cartilage, an important connective tissue that cushions joints. However, levels may decline as the body’s ability to produce glucosamine becomes impaired with age, resulting in joint dysfunction and pain. Glucosamine may slow joint deterioration and maintain cartilage health. It may also reduce inflammation and stimulate collagen synthesis that is required for healthy joints. Glucosamine is not found in the diet and may be obtained from supplements.
